Midheaven 10th house of career in Sagittarius: Foreign connections in career. All in all, quite a few things fit nicely, but it could be better. Too little Scorpio does the 8th house make up for it? What do you think? Haven't found any chart so far that fits him better than that. This does work nicely. The seventh house is interesting considering that JKR said we would learn more about spouses and families of the teachers in the future.
Wonder what this chart can tell us. Venus and Mars conjunct in the eighth house. Mars in Libra, Venus in Scorpio. Are some of his secrets venusian in nature? I don't know who's chart this is, but it's certainly interesting. Three planets in the first house, neptune conjunct the ascendant and opposed the moon in the seventh house. Just like the song. Neptune, Jupiter and the chart ruler, Uranus all in the first house, Aquarius. Fantasy, expansion and zany brainy occultism all converge in Aquarius, the sign of the magician astrologer in the first house of the self.
This chart is using placidean calculations. How would it work if Snape were a Cancer? Hard shell on the outside, closed and secretive on the inside?
You tend to weigh the pros and cons of every issue during this cycle, taking into account others' needs as well as your own. You are asked to give more attention to your soul, to explore the mystery of life, to find out what is hidden beyond. Disillusionment with higher education could be felt as you feel trapped by the confines of the curriculum. The more inquisitive your attitude, the better. So you might have to do some deep cleansing of your very own back passage so to speak…. I don't know who's chart this is, but it's certainly interesting.
I'm not good with the charts, but reading what you all have is very interesting. I like to make up charts and put things where I like them. Serpentine likes to play with dates and times until everything kind of comes together nicely. As for Snape, I think we started this thread just to talk about him. So he's probably on page one or two, but I think Cancer works well for Lupin, or even James.
They didn't put in the most revealing Snape scenes we have so far. To me, a better definition is "vindictive. So you find it OK? I was wondering, especially about the odd Leo moon.
But most of it does fit rather well, especially in the light of alchemy. Come to think about it - there's the secret room in the DoM rumoured to be some kind of Love Room; "a force at once more wonderful and more terrible than death, than human intelligence, than the forces of nature" and "perhaps the most mysterious of the many subjects for study that reside there" - OotP, Bloomsbury, p. And he keeps stressing the importance of love to Harry.
He knew about Lily's Ancient Magic protection in Harry's and Petunia's blood maybe helped to find it, or to place the charm? His love for Harry was also the flaw in his brilliant plan p.
It does make sense They seem to fit the part, and the fact that they're so much alike, as others have said, might add up to their intense dislike of each other. I gotta print this and sit with it for awhile. Gotta think about that. I'm reluctant to push it to a later date though. His chart looks quite nice for that date, and it's beautifully close to Halloween. We haven't fixed a date for Sirius yet, but since they must be in the same year, pinning it down on Nov 2nd would put it too close to Snape's IMHO.
While there are quite a few similarities between them, they aren't that similar. But don't be sad about it, TRF-Chan. The date alone doesn't say much, the same birthdate with different years can give the chart a very different meaning. The planets are in different places, plus the rising sign and houses depending on the time can be different For instance, I share a birthday with the Swedish tennis-star Stefan Edberg, but I'm rotten at tennis or anything else to do with sports. It's the chart and the character qualities that should match, not the date. So can you use the same chart you used on Snape for Sirius, knowing that they were in the same year at Hogwarts.
I've read somewhere too that Taurus and Scorpio are kind of ying and yangy to each other. Perhaps if Snape is a Scorpio then Sirius is Taurus? I think Fred talks a bit more often than George does, though. I find it difficult to figure out which one is the dominant twin though. Geroge seems a teeny bit more sensitive than Fred. TRF-Chan, I guess we'd all like to poke some more birthdates out of her.
D So far in most cases we don't even have an exact year to work with, and even in those cases where we have an estimated year Snape and Marauders it's hard to fit it in with the times of their school career and the time window until Voldemort's fall. For my fic "The Red Light of the Sun" I tried to figure out his exact age at the time I had in mind, and the time window between his graduation and that fateful Halloween night, tying in with his acknowledgement in OotP October that he'd been teaching for 14 years.
The years didn't want to fit smoothly either way, so I had to rely on an educated guess. Whizbang, what do you have against Scorpios? I quite like them, not only because my sweetheart is one. Whatever else you may think about Scorpios and apparently they do make people either love or hate them, but you can't be indifferent about them , they sure are interesting - and never boring.
D Scorpioness isn't always a bad thing, just think of Dumbledore and Sirius. Hmm, I've just noticed that I've never posted a detailed analysis of my favourite Snape chart here, like those of Hermione or Dumbledore Dunno if it's still desired though, after roughly two pages of astrological Snapishness. Or would you prefer something about Ron or McGonagall first? I'm open to suggestions.
After all it's the program doing the bulk of the work, not me. Aah, must be the same reason why I can't quite see him as a Capricorn sun sign. As rising sign it fits him OK though. With Gemini rising it's Pluto in the 5th house, but I kind of like the Moon in the 5th house with Virgo rising better. It's a stronger influence, and it's a fair deal for the rather unhappy Capricorn position of the Moon throughout the entire day.
Apart from that the 10th house of career Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes is interesting too - Gemini at Makes for some spirited developments in their fun shop. Mars in Cancer throughout the day is nice too, strong feelings for the family. The border times Besides the houses 5 creativity and 11 friendship are empty.
My dictionary says it's those white lines planes trail after them, but I don't quite get your meaning in this context. These are contrails that some observers believe are intentionally delivering some kind of chemicals into the atmosphere. I'm not an expert in astrology, but I really think that Severus is a Scorpio. I found a description of Scorpios on an astrology site that I'll post here And the parentheses are my comments.
Scorpios are the most intense, profound, powerful characters in the zodiac. Even when they appear self-controlled and calm there is a seething intensity of emotional energy under the placid exterior. They are like the volcano not far under the surface of a calm sea, it may burst into eruption at any moment. But those of us who are particularly perceptive will be aware of the harnessed aggression, the immense forcefulness, magnetic intensity, and often strangely hypnotic personality under the tranquil, but watchful composure of Scorpio.
In conventional social gatherings they are pleasant to be with, thoughtful in conversation, dignified, and reserved, yet affable and courteous; they sometimes possess penetrating eyes which make their shyer companions feel naked and defenseless before them. P In their everyday behavior they give the appearance of being withdrawn from the center of activity, yet those who know them will recognize the watchfulness that is part of their character.
They need great self-discipline, because they are able to recognize the qualities in themselves that make them different from other humans, and to know their utterly conventional natures can be used for great good, or great evil. Their tenacity and willpower are immense, their depth of character and passionate conviction overwhelming, yet they are deeply sensitive and easily moved by their emotions. Their sensitivity, together with a propensity for extreme likes and dislikes make them easily hurt, quick to detect insult or injury to themselves often when none is intended and easily aroused to ferocious anger.
This may express itself in such destructive speech or action that they make lifelong enemies by their outspokenness, for they find it difficult not to be overly critical of anything or anyone to whom they take a dislike. They can harness their abundant energy constructively, tempering their self-confidence with shrewdness and their ambition with magnanimity toward others provided they like them. They relate to fellow workers only as leaders and can be blunt to those they dislike to the point of cruelty.
In fact they are not above expressing vindictiveness in deliberate cruelty. They are too demanding, too unforgiving of faults in others, perhaps because they are not aware of the shortcomings within themselves, and extravagantly express their self-disgust in unreasonable resentment against their fellows.
They do, however, make excellent friends, provided that their companions do nothing to impugn the honor of which Scorpios are very jealous. Part of the negative side of the Scorpio nature is a tendency to discard friends once they cease to be useful, but the decent native is aware of, and fights this tendency. They are fortunate in that their strong reasoning powers are tempered with imagination and intuition, and these gifts, together with critical perception and analytical capacity, can enable the Scorpions to penetrate to profundities beyond the average.
They have a better chance of becoming geniuses than the natives of any other sign. But charismatic "twice-born" characters such as they can sink into the extremes of depravity if they take the wrong path, and the intensity of their nature exaggerates their harmful tendencies into vices far greater than the normal. But maybe living with so many scorpios is why I don't think that Snape is one. But if he is sexy rock star Stubby Boardman, then maybe this is a manifestation of Scorpio, while ambivalence about his affect on girls is probably venus in Aquarius.
The fire in Sirius looks saggitarian to me, probably afflicted and so his imprisonment and years on the lam.
I just don't see much scorpio in him. What can I say? They are intense and emotional and they never let a good secret lie uncovered for very long. Plus, they always have a good conspiracy theory to share.
I love conspiracy theories. I tend to see Snape in terms of a very afflicted horoscope. The only way I can ever see my way to not hating Snape is if he turns out to have been James the whole time. This doesn't look promising however. Now remember, unlike Serpentine who actually manipulates dates and times until she finds a chart that makes sense, I just pull up a blank chart and start filling it in randomly.
One of my reasons for sticking Snape in Virgo was the outside chance that he might turn out to be Regulus. If Sirius and Regulus were not twins, then putting Sirius into Libra, which does work nicely and Snape 11 months later into Virgo would put them into the same year at school. But sometimes, I think Sirius would be better in Aries with Libra rising. He looks like a libra, you know? I have to back in the thread to see how I assembled it all. In the meantime, there were some interesting discussions on Snape's major signs being Virgo Scorpio and Capricorn.
As it turns out, Hermione is a Virgo. Since there's a new thread about Dudley's birthday where Dudley's birthday was mentioned as June 22nd according to the HP Lexicon timeline, which apparently was around the summer solstice of At the summer solstice there will be a new Maybe we can even try to figure out what the Dementors made him see?
It makes him a Cancer, that much is sure - even if narrowly. Provisionally I put his birthtime at House positions may vary with time and ascendant, but the planet positions are unlikely to change if that date is correct. Does anyone have the books near to check? Fire weak, air strong, water strong. I won't plunge into the full chart interpretation, but here are the provisional positions: Sun in Cancer , 10th house. Moon in Libra , 1st house. Mercury in Cancer , 10th house. Square Moon and Pluto. Venus in Gemini , 9th house. Square Mars and Saturn. Trine Moon and Pluto. Mars in Virgo , 12th house.
Square Neptune, square Venus. Jupiter in Virgo , 11th house. Saturn in Virgo , 12th house. Uranus in Scorpio , 2nd house. Neptune in Sagittarius , 3rd house.
Sextile Moon and Pluto. Pluto in Libra , 1st house. Chiron in Taurus , 8th house. Trine Mars and Saturn. North Node in Leo , 11th house. Midheaven 10th house in Cancer. Chiron in Taurus is especially fitting: I like snape as a scorpio it fits him well. Eroded sense of power, fear of anything hidden and threatened personal boundaries And they both trine Chiron the Wounded Healer But he does have strong ties with Petunia and Vernon, and the crabby side of Cancer does fit him.
However, what really bugs me is the Libra ascendant. He's not really balanced, artistic, or charming. His qualities are different ones - physical strength for instance, certain leadership qualities, and a liking for food. Rather Leo, Taurus, or maybe Scorpio Oh, and by the way: Any opinions about the Twin's provisional chart, mentioned way above? Dudley has quite some Earth, three planets in Virgo. But I see what you mean That's why Libra rising bugged me so - it made him even airier than the three planets in air signs would already make him. That much air, that's just not him.
Okay, here we go Hmm, leaves us a narrow time range. I don't want it to be empty. Same planets, same signs, only the houses have changed. Fire weak difficulty getting himself motivated , Earth strong practical, hands-on, stubborn refusal to changes. Cardinal strong enjoys challenge and action.
I squished Dudder's rising back to 0 degrees Taurus. I like the sun and venus in the second house, too. I'm going to try to move it up to 15 degrees. The north node in Leo is just the thing to give him swagger and make him aspire to be leader of a gang. Not only does Dudders have a number of planets in Virgo, but with Taurus rising, there's a lot of activity in the sixth house. What is the message there?
He's certainly not interested in health or particular about much of anything but getting his way. Or rather, not think. What a neat thread idea! I would have to say that Snape's a Scorpio. I got on my Encarta Encyclopedia disk and this is what it had for Scorpio: Scorpios can be willful, stubborn, and easily made jealous. Scorpios are thought to be keen observers of people, and potentially calculating and manipulative.
He's also pretty jealous, like when it comes to James and Sirius. He abandoned the Death Eaters, but with good cause. He also didn't continue giving Harry his Occlumency lessons, but I guess he had good reason for abandoning that project too. I also think that Umbridge could be a Capricorn. Capricorns are ambitious, and they typically are not satisfied unless they have reached a level of power and authority. Power-hungry and rooted in ministry traditions. And finally, I think Dumbledore would be an Aquarian.
Whizbang - our preferred Dudley charts seem to be only 9 minutes apart. Just goes to show how the time of birth influences a chart. In this case Chiron is in the 1st house instead of the 12th: Hmm, I'd still like to think of Dumbledore as an Aquarian. Astrologers believe that Aquarians have lightning-fast intuitive insight and can quickly grasp abstract concepts.
It just sounds so much like him! But Sagittarius with Aquarius rising works too. I think just so he's got something with Aquarius, it'll work for him. I remember reading somewhere that people who've got the same signs sometimes clash and don't get along at all. That would make sense with McGonagall and Umbridge, if both were Capricorns. But then, Umbridge is just a horrible person and McGonagall wasn't the only one who hated her.
I'm going to have to go try to find where I read that again. I've read the first couple pages of this thread so much information! I'm really not sure about her at all. If she wasn't such a fraud, I'd say Pisces because they're dreamy and mystical and all. Besides spending more time tending to domestic affairs, the focus can be on cultivating and nourishing the inner foundations that support you and your growth.
